故事梗概｜Synopsis
在城市高樓夾縫間，孤單善良的大樓警衛藏有一個無人知曉、生機盎然的美麗野地，並與棲息在那兒的鷺鷥相遇相熟﹔然而城市的擴張不曾停止，某日野地被毀蓋起高樓，一鳥一人頓失身與心之棲地，而恍惚悲傷的他在層層的鋼骨鷹架與起重機間，開始看見各種神秘幻象……
『鷺鷥河』以獨特細膩的關懷視角呈現人與自然生命的靈性連結，在精緻的美術風格中，娓娓道來溫柔又富有深意的故事。
Among the tall buildings of the city, the lonely guard hides a beautiful field that no one knows and meets an egret there; but the expansion of the city never stops, one day the field is destroyed, the egret escapes without a trace, the lonely guard begins to see mysterious illusions.

動畫短片《鷺鷥河》靈感源自她對城市濕地、野鳥與都市邊緣空間的觀察。作品歷時多年製作，以手繪風格結合數位媒材，呈現出一位警衛與一隻白鷺鷥在工地邊界偶然相遇的故事。創作過程中，導演深入研究都市更新與生態失衡的問題，並以詩意與沈靜的敘事節奏，描繪人與自然之間若即若離的情感。
《鷺鷥河》不以激烈對抗或口號式批判來傳達理念，而是透過細膩畫面與氛圍，表現對土地與生命的共感。作品傳達「萬物皆有靈」的信念，關注都市人在急速發展中的孤獨與疏離，也寄望觀者重新凝視那些被忽視的城市邊界與自然棲地。最終，《鷺鷥河》成為一則關於關懷、轉化與靜默連結的當代寓言。
The Egret River, directed by Liu Wan-Ling, was inspired by her observations of urban wetlands, wild birds, and the overlooked edges of city spaces. The film took several years to complete, combining hand-drawn animation with digital media to tell the story of a solitary security guard who encounters an egret at the border of a construction site. Throughout the creative process, the director conducted in-depth research on urban redevelopment and ecological imbalance, weaving these themes into a quiet, poetic narrative.
Rather than using overt confrontation or slogans, The Egret River conveys its message through gentle visuals and an atmosphere of stillness. The film reflects a belief that all living things possess spirit, focusing on the loneliness and disconnection of city dwellers amidst rapid development. It invites viewers to reexamine the often-ignored boundaries between human society and the natural world. Ultimately, the film serves as a contemporary fable—one of care, transformation, and silent connection.
導演簡介｜Director Biography
劉琬琳，出生於1981年，生長於花蓮，畢業於大葉大學視覺傳達設計系與臺南藝術大學音像動畫研究所。現居高雄，身兼動畫導演與插畫創作者。善於結合2D手繪與數位媒材，其作品靈感多源自日常生活及大自然，包括短片《瘤》、《生珠》及獲選金馬獎、台北電影節的代表作《鷺鷥河》，後者以溫柔細膩的風格探索都市生態與人性連結。她的創作帶著濃厚的個人觀察與環境關懷，深具詩意與情感張力。
Liu Wan‑Ling, born in 1981 in Hualien, Taiwan, is an animation director and illustrator currently based in Kaohsiung. She holds a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Da-Yeh University and an MFA in Animation and Video Art from Tainan National University of the Arts. Her works often draw inspiration from everyday life and the natural world, blending 2D hand-drawn animation with digital techniques. Liu’s notable films include Tumor, The Woman With Pearl, and The Egret River, the latter having screened at major festivals such as the Taipei Film Festival and Golden Horse Film Festival. Her storytelling is known for its gentle, poetic sensibility and strong environmental awareness, exploring the emotional connections between people and their surroundings.
